Rejected: Election Deniers Seeking to Control Elections

One of the most heartening results of this election season is the outright rejection of those outspoken “Big Lie” supporters who wanted to run the nation’s elections.

About 13 of the 27 secretary of state races had election deniers on Nov. 8 ballots, according to the bipartisan States United Democracy Center. They organized into the America First Secretary of State Coalition, rooted in the belief that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

The one coalition member elected was Diego Morales of Indiana, a former aide to Mike Pence when he was governor. Morales campaigned more has an anti-establishment candidate and generated the most controversy about his work history, military service and sexual-assault allegations.

Most of the candidates were sent packing by Republican primary voters — including those in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Three of the most fervent candidates, however, made it on the November ballot. Endorsed by former president Donald Trump, they could still create chaos, especially if Trump runs for office…
